About Me
The author of the blog: Estelle
Estelle is my middle name, passed down to me generationally, dating back to my ancestors who were forced into slavery. Estelle is deeply meaningful to me, and connects me to my inner power, resilience and strength.
Estelle is the name I use for my non-career authoring.
For fun, I like to travel, dance [debatable as to whether I am good at it] and I also am an avid shopper [help!!]. I put my shopping habits to good use though. The Dt. Stew Review is my fun take on life-style blogging and a review of all the random s#!% you did not know you needed.

My blogs are based on my research and passion. In my love and healing blog I tie in concepts from books and articles that I read, as well as my own original thoughts. My anti-oppression blog posts also tie closely to my professional knowledge and are often inspired by questions or ideas that are presented to me on a continual basis [indicating a broader interest]. I will always cite sources where applicable and ensure that I provide context. Everything I write is certainly my own opinion, however it will be supported with scholarship and critical thinking so that you can feel confident you are reading reliable information.
I love to write. I always have. I will admit my passion for writing was tested through my graduate school process. The fun, the joy, the color was stripped from the process and I never thought I would be able to decouple writing from the harsh criticism and the stylistic blandness that was a feature of academic writing [no shade to academic writing… well maybe just a sprinkle of shade 🙂 ]. I found a balance of both, and looking back at those experiences where my writing was scrutinized, I am grateful because it has made me a better writer. Now, on the other side of the writing journey, I can add back in my sparkle and fairy dust.
My writing is my passion and purpose. Everything I write I pray over. I pray that my words heal and bring joy. Most importantly, I pray that my writing is reflective of the reader’s reality. I believe in the power of narratives, unrestricted and authentic. So I hope to bring honor to the stories I share, and the experiences that are captured in my writing. I am thankful to anyone and everyone who takes time to read my work.
